The start

1. The design build is when experts work together to plan and build your dream space.
2. An architect will provide a unique perspective on the design, function, and aesthetics of your space. They taking into account your budget, timeline, and any site limitations. A good place to find an architect is through the New Zealand Institute of Architects.

5. Land is cleared, foundations are poured, the excitement begins.
6. Framing starts and house starts to take shape.
7. The fireplace needs to be ordered in time to suit the building process.
8. Roof goes on.
9. With a torch-on membrane roof, any flue needs to have a hole created to suit the roofers; Living Flame may need to supply parts for this, but generally the roofer would let you know.
10. Exterior walls and windows go in.

The house is now secure and lockable

1. The fireplace can now be delivered to site.
2. The fireplace and flue is installed now by a registered Gasfitter, with any electrical wiring and the gas pipe connection.
3. It’s important to cover the fireplace opening back up after the installation to protect the expensive, sensitive equipment inside from dust, paint and other building materials.
4. Internal walls are clad and decorating begins.
5. Electrical and plumbing work is completed, along with appliance installation.
6. Carpets go down and finishing touches are being completed.
7. Power gas and other utilities go on.
8. The gasfitter will return at a later date to test, check and commission the fireplace and certify his work is safe for use.

The house is ready for people to move in

1. The home owners move into their beautiful new home.
2. Once the PGDL Board issue the certification and Living Flame have been informed, one of the team will come and meet the clients and run through a final inspection with them, showing the best ways to operate and care for their new Living Flame fire, viewing the installation and checking the fire’s safe operation.
